Aladdin Lamp Award


PURPOSE: To recognize excellence in synchrotron radiation research performed at SRC in pursuit of a degree.

ELIGIBILITY: Any student performing a significant piece of research at the Synchrotron Radiation Center as part of an educational program. There is no restriction on level of degree at this time. The nominee should have been a student at SRC within two years of the nomination deadline.

APPLICATION: A complete application will consist of the following parts:

1. A brief letter of nomination from the applicant’s advisor. This letter should clearly state the role of the applicant in the research project.
2. An extended abstract (4 page maximum, including figures) of the work performed at SRC, written by the applicant.
3. The applicant’s curriculum vitae including publications and works in progress.
4. Supporting materials in the form of published papers or preprints are allowed, but not required.

AWARDS: Applications will be judged by committee from the supplied materials. The awardee will receive a plaque and will have a featured time in the annual SRC Users Group Meeting on October 25th.

DEADLINE: Completed applications are due by October 3, 2003. The applications are to be sent to:

Each year, during the Users' meeting, this award is given to recognize excellence in synchrotron radiation research performed by a student as they seek their degree.
